The Four Foundations of Awareness Practice

The Foundation of both sitting meditation and daily life practice/mindfulness.

In this final podcast in the course on ‘What the Buddha Taught’ we look at extracts from one of the scriptures from the Pali Canon (the earliest collection of Buddhist scriptures).

The Satipatthana or Foundations of Awareness is the manual of Buddhist practice given by the Buddha himself to his monks and nuns. In it he gives the instructions for sitting meditation plus the practice of meditation in activity, what is known as daily-life-practice or mindfulness/awareness practice.

He described this practice as the only way to attain an end to grief and to attain Nirvana.

This talk gives a brief outline of the structure of this practice and how to begin to implement it into daily life.
